COVID-19: Biggest single-day spike in Assam with 2,112 new cases

In the biggest ever single-day spike in COVID-19 cases, out of the total 41028 tests conducted on Thursday, 2,112 new positive cases have been registered in Assam.

Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma taking to Twitter wrote, “2112 new COVID cases detected in Assam out of 41028 tests in last 24 hrs. Kamrup (M): 283 Nagaon: 211 Kamrup (R): 210 Sonitpur: 132. Positivity rate~ 5.14%.”

(Total cases 38,407, Recovered 27,832, Active cases 10,478, Deaths 94)

Earlier, 1,248 patients were discharged from various hospitals and Covid care centres across Assam, taking the total number of recoveries to 29,080.

With 9,230 active cases, the overall coronavirus cases tally in the state has reached 38,407. Assam has already crossed 8 lakh-mark in terms of COVID-19 tests.

Meanwhile, two more COVID-19 patients have succumbed to their infection on Thursday. The victims are 57-year-old Aolepshi Jamir from Kamrup (Metro) and 45-year-old Swapan Saha from Darrang.
