COVID-19: Area in Guwahati’s Fancy Bazar declared containment zone

After a person from Fancy Bazar area in Guwahati tested COVID-19 positive, Kamrup (Metro) district administration has declared the area encircling Hotel Rajkamal as containment zone.
The district authority also shut down the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Market Complex falling over Tarun Ram Phukan Road which is under notified containment zone.
The entire activities of the market complex have been prohibited with immediate effect from May 12.
The boundaries of the containment zone are as follows:
North: M. G. Road
South: Tarun Ram Phukan Road
East: SRCB Road
West: M.S. Road
On the other hand, the official order issue by the deputy commissioner and chairman of district disaster management authority of Kamrup (M) district mentioned the following rules to be followed:
Any unauthorized entry and exit into the notified containment zone is barred till the area is declared safe as per guidelines of ministry of health and family welfare, Government of India.
Any movement of any unauthorized Individual and vehicle within the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect.
All statutory and other directions regarding maintenance of social distancing will be strictly enforced in the sealed area.
This order is made under the regulations “The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020” and shall be effective from 10-00 AM of 12 May, 2020 until further order.
Any violation of this order will attract action under the provisions of “The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020” “The Disaster Management Act-2005”, The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and other relevant laws of the nation.
