Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has urged parties not to play politics over the tragic incident in the East Jaintia Hills coal mine.
The Meghalaya chief minister meanwhile, admitted that the situation is critical as almost the entire river has flown inside the mine.
Over 12 lakh liters of water has been pumped out by the rescue workers but the water level is still rising, said Sangma.
Sangma pointed out that the state government is in the process of procuring high powered water pumps for the purpose.
The Chief Minister also said that the state government is in constant touch with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs over the issue and is receiving all possible support from it.
He further said that the rescue operations is about to enter a different phase now hence there is no question of calling it off.
