NPP national president Conrad Sangma has reacted to senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh’ remark on Northeast Live that the NPP is a B team of the BJP. Sangma said that the NPP is very much an independent political force which fights the elections on its own.

Earlier, in a big statement, the Congress has termed the NPP and JD-U as the B-team of the BJP in the state.

Veteran Congress leader and AICC observer for Manipur, Jairam Ramesh while speaking to Northeast Live Editor-in-chief Wasbir Hussain in the show Talk Time said that both Conrad Sangma-led NPP and the JD-U are different avatars of the BJP.

This is a big allegation coming in from the senior Congress leader at a time when both parties are looking to give BJP a run for its money with the NPP contesting in over 42 seats and the JD-U in fray in 30 seats.

Meanwhile, Ramesh said that the Congress’ biggest rival is the BJP along with the NPP and JD-U.

At a time when the Congress is already in a pre-poll alliance with 5 left parties, Jairam Ramesh said, it was too early to talk about a possibility of post-alliance with other parties including the NPP.
Ramesh also elaborated on the Congress pre-poll ties with the CPI, CPM Forward Bloc, RSP and JD-S.
