Colonel Manoranjan Goswami passes away in Mumbai

Colonel Manoranjan Goswami, a well known writer and litterateur breathed his last early today in Mumbai after bravely battling a prolonged illness.

Colonel Goswami, who was 78, had served in the army for 30 years. He had also bagged the prestigious Assam Sahitya Sabha award last year.

Colonel Goswami was the father of well known journalist and Founder Editor of Republic TV, Arnab Goswami.

His mortal remains will be brought to Guwahati at 10 am tomorrow and the body will be taken to his Lal Ganesh residence.

Goswami’s cremation will be held at Bhootnath cremation ground near Santipur in Guwahati at 1:00 pm tomorrow.

A host of top leaders including Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and others condoled Colonol Goswami’s demise.

Apart from Arnab, Colonel Manoranjan Goswami is survived by his wife, a daughter and grand children.

Meanwhile, people from various walks of life, including political leaders and journalists, have condoled Colonel Goswami’s death.

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also condoled Colonel Manoranjan Goswami’s death.
