MPCC president Vincent Pala today demanded an independent probe into illegal coal mining in Meghalaya.

Talking to media persons, Pala said an SIT enquiry is not enough and there should be a CBI probe or an independent inquiry into illegal coal mining and transportation.

The MPCC president also said that it is an open secret that illegal coal mining is taking place.

Meanwhile, Pala also added that there are many illegal check gates operating in the state and he reiterated that they have become an ATM for the government.
