With an objective to make Nambul River pollution free, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh launched the “Rejuvenation and Conservation of Nambul River” project at Imphal on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister made an appeal to people asking them to stop littering on river banks.
The Chief Minister also asked local clubs and organisations to construct concrete garbage bins in their locality for the construction of which his government would provide loans & grants.
As per the information, the project would be executed in phases under the National River Conservation plan of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Chang. A sum of Rs. 97.72 Crores has been approved for the project.
A total of 56 eco-friendly crematoria and 20 units Community Toilet Complex would be constructed at various areas along the Nambul River.
