Clash breaks out at Assam-Tripura border; Two cops injured

Tension gripped Jherjheri check post along the Assam-Tripura border after miscreants, allegedly from Tripura, were involved in a skirmish with police personnel and civilians of Karimganj district.


As per inputs, two cops of Kathaltoli police patrol post in Assam were injured when they reached the incident spot to take stock of the situation. Reportedly, the situation turned volatile following allegations of illegal smuggling activities along the inter-state border. The locals of Kathaltoli have alleged that during the night hours, wood, dried betel nuts, and various other illegal items are smuggled from Assam through the check post to Tripura.
