CID Assam cracks sensational death case of 13-yr old girl; Victim subjected to sexual assault before death after accused strangulates victim.

CID Assam Police has finally cracked the sensational death case of a 13-year old girl in Dhekiajuli. It was Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s clear directive to the police to re-investigate the case after he suspected something wrong with the feedback given by the then Darrang SP.

Accordingly, a member CID team led by Investigating Officer (IO) Ariful Haque swung into action and began to probe the matter again. In fact, Chief Minister Sarma and DGP BhaskarJyoti Mahanta had visited the victim’s family.

It was then the victim’s family pointed out that there was no evidence which establishes that the body was brought down from the position of hanging.

Soon the investigating team accessed crucial leads after collecting scientific evidences and post-mortem. In the 2nd post mortem report, it was clear that the victim was subjected to sexual assault, before being thrashed brutally in her head and neck causing her death.

CID officials informed that the accused had confessed of sexually assaulting and strangulating the victim to death, after she warned of informing the incident to her family members and the wife of the accused.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the CID for cracking the case on a fast-track mode.

Sarma said that the CID took his suspicion on the feedback of Darrang police seriously and acted seriously on the matter. The Chief Minister said that a timely and proper investigation has led to the arrest of the Darrang SP Rajmohan Roy, Additional SP Rupam Phukan, Dhula OC, magistrate Aashirbaad Hazarika and 3 doctors, who had tried to shield the case and the accused Krishna Kamal Baruah. The CID had taken over the case on August and submitted the chargesheet on September.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed hope that people will repose faith on the police as far as proper investigation into any case is concerned. In fact, Chief Minister Sarma said that any guardian having any doubt about the probe into such cases of assault and murder can move concerned SPs of the districts. The Assam Chief Minister said that the findings of CID is clear and left it on the Court to decide on the future proceedings against the accused.

It needs to be mentioned that the arrested doctors had given false post mortem reports, while the magistrate had submitted a report without even visiting the site of incident. On the other hand, the then Darrang SP, Additional SP and Dhula OC had compromised with the case by accepting bribe from the family of accused.
