Churachandpur MLA LM Khaute meets Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

During the meet, MLA Khaute highlighted the plight of students and employees of educational institutes

Concerned about the state of affairs and the plight of students in violence hit Manipur, Churachandpur MLA LM Khaute led a delegation of Manipur Tribals’ Forum Delhi (MTFD) and met Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi today.

Top on the agenda of the meeting was a discussion on how to address the grievances and issues that the students of Manipur are facing. Many of them have not been able to attend colleges as places like Churachandpur are still reporting incidents of arson and firing.

Taking to Twitter, MLA Khaute who was also the DGP of Manipur wrote, “With Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji, Union Minister for Education today discussing ways to redress grievances of students and employees of Central Govt. Educational & Technical Institutions in Manipur. Several pertinent academic issues were also highlighted by the MTFD delegation.”
On July 5, schools in Manipur reopened for Classes 1-8 although incidents of violence are still being reported from different parts of the state.

In another initiative to help the affected students of the state, the Manipur government had on July 8 launched the ‘Chief Minister’s College Students Rehabilitation Scheme (CMCSRS) 2023’, to provide the required educational facilities to the displaced and affected undergraduate college students of Manipur.
