Checking Illegal Migration: Meghalaya Cabinet Approves Scheme for MRSSA Implementation
Amid growing clamour for Inner Line Permit or ILP to check illegal migration into the state, the Meghalaya Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has approved a new scheme for better implementation of the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA), 2016 and approved allocation of Rs 2 lakh for district task forces to monitor proper implementation of MRSSA. Proper implementation of MRSSA will go a long way in addressing concerns raised by pressure groups and students bodies of the state regarding illegal migration.
