Certain Sections Trying to Disrupt Peace in State: Tripura CM Manik Saha After Communal Violence in State

First Published: 2nd September, 2024 18:52 IST

Saha emphasized that the government is committed to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future.

Days after TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma said that there are sections within the ruling BJP trying to destabilise the Manik Saha-led government in the state, CM Saha today said that some people might be feeling uneasy and uncomfortable with the peace in the state and trying to cause disharmony among the people.

“Maybe some sections are not happy with the peace in the state. They might be trying to disrupt peace in the state. My government took swift action as soon as we got to know about communal violence,” CM Sahar told reporters on the sidelines of an event.

This was the Chief Minister’s first public reaction to the incident of August 26 when several houses and shots were burnt and looted after a Goddess Kali idol was defaced in a temple in the Durganagar area under Ranirbazar police station in West Tripura district, on the night of August 25.

While speaking to media, Saha, who also serves as the state’s Home Minister, stated that such incidents are never welcome and immediate action was taken.

Saha emphasized that the government is committed to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future.

Pradyot Kishore Debbarma recently cautioned that a section within the ruling party, particularly those vying for the Chief Minister’s post, might be instigating communal violence in an attempt to undermine Saha’s leadership.
