Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Finance for releasing an additional devolution instalment of Rs 536 crores and a total of Rs 1072.90 crore to Meghalaya for the month of June.
Chief Minister Sangma who also holds the finance portfolio said that the additional funds provided by the Center would help the state implement developmental projects.
Taking to X, CM Sangma wrote, “We express our gratitude to the Ministry of Finance, GoI for releasing an additional installment of the share of central taxes of INR 536 crores to Meghalaya and a total of Rs 1072.9 crore for June. This additional money will enable the State to accelerate the ongoing development projects.”

CM Sangma said that this is a great gesture by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and a great way to start the new government.
The Centre on Monday approved the release of tax devolution of Rs 1,39,750 crores to states for June. Apart from the regular release of the devolution amount for the month of June, an announcement of one additional instalment was also made by the Ministry of Finance.
The Interim Budget 2024-25 has a provision of Rs. 12,19,783 crore towards the devolution of taxes to states.
With this release, the total amount devolved (for fiscal year 2024-25) to states till 10 June 2024 is Rs. 2,79,500 crore.
