100-year-old Mai Handique, who had tested positive for COVID-19 was discharged from hospital on Wednesday in Guwahati after recovery.
She was undergoing treatment at the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in the city. Handique has now tested negative and was discharged from the hospital today.
The hospital authorities gave a warm farewell to their patient, who in turn showered her blessings on them.
Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to express his happiness at the centenarian’s recovery. He said that with the support of doctors and sheer will power she defeated COVID-19.
“Steely resolve of 100-year-old Mai Handque is monumental. With brilliant support of doctors of MMCH, she defeated #coronavirus, giving us a lesson in having right will power. As she gets back to Mother’s Old Age Home, Hatigaon, Guwahati, I join my team in wishing her best,” Sarma tweeted.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
