Campaigning ends for Assam by-polls

Campaigning for the October 21 by-elections came to an at 4 pm in the evening on Saturday.

With this being the last day of campaigning, intense campaigning was held at the four seats in Assam, which will see voting on Monday.

The fate of 20 contestants in the four seats – Rangapara, Sonari, Ratabari and Jania will be known when results will be announced after counting of votes on Thursday.

State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass campaigned for the party candidate at Jonia constituency. AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal also jumped into campaigning for his party’s Jonia seat candidate.

Meanwhile, political parties have also been running intense campaigning for their candidates for the Ratabari constituency.

Former cabinet minister Gatuam Roy also was seen campaigning for BJP candidate Bijoy Malakar.
