In a tragic incident, a person committed suicide by jumping off the Saraighat bridge near Guwahati. The man identified as Sonmoni Kalita committed suicide late night on Friday. Kalita, who was a cab driver by profession, parked his car on the side of the bridge before plunging down to his death.
A team of NDRF has been running operations to recover Kalita’s body, but so far has been unsuccessful. Sources point out that Kalita had not been paid by the cab company since four months, and it is being suspected that stressful financial conditions forced him into taking the extreme step.
