Businesses Remain Shut in 9 Nagaland Districts for 2nd Day Today

The indefinite voluntary shutdown in nine districts of Nagaland has entered the second day today. Business establishments across nine districts of Nagaland voluntarily downed their shutters yesterday following the call from the Confederation of Nagaland Chambers of Commerce and Industry or CNCCI. The move comes in protest against the state government’s longstanding inaction on issues raised by the business community. The CNCCI started its indefinite voluntary shutter down in the nine districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, Zunheboto, Meluri, Phek, Wokha, Peren, and Tseminyu. The indefinite voluntary shutter down was called after the Nagaland government failed to fulfill the demand of the CNCCI, to nominate representatives from District Chamber of Commerce and Industries into all Urban Local Bodies, particularly town councils.
