Burba Mohan Tripura, Tripura BJP Vice President and MLA from Karbook constituency resigned from the party as well as the assembly membership ahead of Tripura assembly elections 2023.

The MLA submitted his resignation letter to Assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty today in the presence of TIPRA Motha Chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma.

Speaking to the media, Pradyot Debbarma said Burba Mohan resigned from the BJP and stepped down as a MLA because he no longer wants to continue his political career with a National Party.

Burba Mohan Tripura will join TIPRA Motha this evening. This was informed by Pradyot Debbarma exclusively to Northeast Live.

Pradyot Debbarma stated that several other sitting MLAs from other parties are in touch with him.

Meanwhile, its not only Burba Mohan Tripura but another BJP leader and former Deputy Speaker of the Tripura assembly Gauri Sankar Reang is also set to join the TIPRA Motha. This was informed to Northeast Live by sources within TIPRA Motha.

The development has come just a day after the party swept the Rajya Sabha bypolls in the state.
