Bru body puts death toll at 6 after demise of an infant; MBDPF holds authorities responsible

The death of a four-month-old girl in a relief camp in Tripura has taken the number of deceased to 6, as per claims from the Mizoram Bru Displaced People’s Forum.

According to the Mizoram Bru Displaced People’s Forum all six died due to shortage of food leading to starvation.

Earlier, five people including two elderly women reportedly died in Bru relief camps in Tripura in the last two days making it a humanitarian crisis of sorts.

It may be mentioned that Bru refugees had been staging an indefinite road blockade demanding that the Centre resumes supply of free ration and cash dole which have remained suspended since October 1 to facilitate the Bru repatriation process that began from October 3rd.
