In its continued fight against the drug menace, the Tripura Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered 48 grams of brown sugar, cash and other valuables.
The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Raju Debbarma.
Based on inputs received by Debprasad Roy, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sadar, a team of Tripura Police conducted a raid in Debbarma’s rented house in Dhaleswar area, from where he operated his illicit drug trade.
During the raid, led by Rana Chaterjee, the officer in-charge of East Agartala Police Station, law enforcement officials seized 4 pouches of brown sugar, Rs 28,000, a mobile phone and a vehicle.
The seized narcotics have an estimated market value of at least Rs 10 lakhs, said Police.
Raju is currently being interrogation, and Police are actively working to uncover the network of individuals associated with his drug trade.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against Raju Debbarma and he is scheduled to be produced in court today.
