In a major development in the Rishan Rapsang assault and robbery case, the driver of Rishan Rapsang was handed over to the police by the relatives and friends of the Rapsang family yesterday in suspicion of being involved in the attack on Rapsang.

The driver has been identified as Bahdeng. According to the relatives, they had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for providing information about the miscreants, which they circulated through WhatsApp.

Following the announcement, they received a call and tipped them off about the driver who they claimed have confessed the crime after they interrogated. Meanwhile, the police has apprehended four more suspects.

Rishan Rapsang is the brother of West Shillong MLA Mohendro Rapsang. Rishan was robbed and injured by an assailant in his residential premises last Wednesday.
