The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation in India (NTAGI) is slated to meet in the coming two weeks to discuss the crucial issue of COVID-19 vaccination for children in India.

It is also supposed to plan for COVID-19 boosted does for adults.

Importantly COVID-19 vaccination for children is one of the several important points to be discussed at the meeting of the government’s top advisory group on immunisation.

Vaccination for children with comorbidities would most likely begin in January 2022 and by March 2022 all other children will be eligible for vaccination, stated in reports.

The issue of booster doses for adults is relevant as some countries have also called for solid protection against the highly contagious coronavirus with booster doses.

The government is likely to only begin COVID vaccination for children only after Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin is approved for children aged 2-18 years.

Covaxin has previously been approved for use in children aged 2 to 18. However, it has yet to receive the DCGI’s final approval from the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).
