IPL 2025 Opening Ceremony Guwahati: Assam's own cricket star, Riyan Parag, will captain Rajasthan Royals in two of the three matches.

Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez is all set to take the stage at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on March 26, 2025, for a high-energy performance during the opening ceremony of the IPL match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The performance, a major highlight before the highly anticipated clash, will add to the excitement surrounding IPL 2025’s extension to Assam.

The event is expected to be an extravagant celebration of cricket and entertainment, as the Bollywood diva, known for her stellar dance moves and vibrant stage presence, will set the tone for an unforgettable evening.

This performance will follow the grand opening ceremony held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22, which featured performances by Disha Patani, Shreya Ghoshal, and Karan Aujla. Ironically, the broadcast of the Eden Gardens ceremony was cut short by commentators to discuss the inaugural IPL match.

The IPL 2025 season has already begun with grandeur, and now the focus shifts to Guwahati as Barsapara Stadium prepares to host three exciting matches.

Along with the RR vs. KKR match on March 26, the stadium will also be the venue for another high-profile encounter between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 30.

Additionally, a significant change in the IPL schedule sees the KKR vs. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) match, originally set for Kolkata, being moved to Guwahati on April 6 due to security concerns in Kolkata during the Ram Navami celebrations.

The excitement is further amplified by the fact that Assam’s own cricket star, Riyan Parag, will captain Rajasthan Royals in two of the three matches at the Barsapara Stadium. As Parag leads his team in front of his home crowd, it promises to be a special moment for both the player and his supporters in the Northeast.

In another significant development, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has confirmed that Barsapara Stadium has been selected to host its first-ever Test match. Scheduled between India and South Africa from November 22-26, the event will mark a historic milestone for the region’s cricketing infrastructure.

In addition to this, Guwahati is set to host at least five matches during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, further solidifying the city’s place on the international cricket map.

As IPL 2025 continues to unfold, Guwahati is quickly becoming a major hub for cricket, with the world’s attention on its growing role in hosting top-tier cricketing events.
