Meghalaya Police on Tuesday night recovered the body of a young girl from a stream in Shillong.

According to Police, the girl had gone missing from November 30 and her body was recovered from the bank of the river Umshyrpi.

The deceased girl was a 23-year-old resident of Nongmynsong. Police suspect that the girl has been raped and murdered.

However, according to police there was no sign of any injury mark on the body. Meanwhile, the postmortem report is still awaited.
