Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Mizoram today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi where they sought more power for the Autonomous District Councils.
BJP’s national secretary for Minority Morcha, Delson Notlia, and the party’s Mizoram chief Vanlalhmuaka met PM Modi at his office where they sought an amendment of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
Talking to the media after the meet, Delson Notlia said that the meeting went well and they submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister in this regard.
Notlia said that they are hopeful that their request will be fulfilled.
Notlia further informed that no talks on the boundary dispute with Assam had taken place as Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga had already taken up the matter with the Prime Minister recently.
Meanwhile, Mizoram BJP chief Vanlalhmuaka said that the BJP is steadily growing in Mizoram and if the Centre takes the decision on the ADCs then this would benefit the saffron party as well.
