The Biswanath District administration has ordered an inquiry into the death of the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) employee, Robin Das who was electrocuted to death in Assam’s Biswanath district on Wednesday, while he was engaged in power restoration work.
Two employees of the ASEB have been suspended in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, an immediate compensation of 2.5 lakh rupees has also been announced for the family of the deceased by the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited.
Moreover, the APDCL has offered a contractual job for one of the family members of the deceased Robin Das. The unfortunate incident triggered massive protest in Biswanath district, the locals alleged that the incident took place due to the negligence of power department officials.
Eyewitnesses said that the victim identified as Robin Das was electrocuted during power restoration work. Repeated calls made to the power control room by co-workers of Das however allegedly went unanswered as a result of which the tragic incident could not be averted.
