Biri Takar, a para shuttler from Arunachal Pradesh is gearing up to represent India at the International Para-Badminton Championship, which will be held in Zabalgana, Spain from February 27 to March 6.
Taking to Twitter, Minister Youth Affairs & Sports, Mama Natung, wrote, “I extended my best wishes to #Biri Takar for being selected Para-Badminton Championship-2022, to be held from 27th Feb to 6th Mar at Zabalgana, Spain. He is the 1st Para-Athlete from State and whole North-East region to represent India in an international badminton tournament.”
Takar, 21, is the first para-athlete from the frontier state to represent India on a world sporting stage. Takar, a native of Rakso village in Kra Daadi district, is one of 42 Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) athletes selected to compete in the Spanish Para-Badminton International-II.
