Assam Government to provide Bihu committees with financial aid

The Assam Government on Monday announced that it will provide Rs 1.5 lakh financial assistance to Bihu Committees that have been organizing Rongali Bihu functions for more than 10 years.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said the State Government will be providing Rs 1.5 lakh financial assistance to Bihu Committees that have been organizing Rongali Bihu functions for more than 10 years.

Chief Minister Sarma, however, set a rider saying Bihu committees that organize functions from 1st to 7th Bohag will be eligible for the 1.5-lakh-rupee financial aid.

“We will celebrate Bihu with zeal and enthusiasm and there will be no restrictions during the celebration. However, a fixed timing will be set for bihu functions to wind up their cultural programmes,” CM Sarma said.
