The district administration of East Jaintia Hills has began demolishing illegal coke factories in the state. Two illegal coke plants were demolished in East Jaiñtia Hills today.
The two plants demolished were Halari Coke and Shauryansi Coke, both under Elaka Sutnga. The demolition of the chimneys of these two illegal coke factories was carried out under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner, J. Shylla.
The team had representatives from the office of Superintendent of Police, Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board, and District Commerce and Industries Centre.
Soon more than 30 illegal coke plants will be demolished.
On July 10, the authorities of the State’s West Khasi Hills district demolished three coke plants in the Shallang area and arrested five persons involved in running them illegally.

DGP Sharma, informed that the two accused have gone underground after the crime.
