Big Boost to UPPL Ahead of Sidli Bypolls, 1,174 People Join Party Today

BTR Chief Pramod Boro said the party will organize similar joining ceremonies in every constituency under BTR in the near future.

In a massive show of strength ahead of the Sidli Bypolls in the Bodo Territorial Region (BTR), Assam, over 1,174 people from various political backgrounds joined the the United Peoples Party Liberal (UPPL) today.

The new members were welcomed to the party by BTR Chief Pramod Boro in a grand joining programme held in Banargaon under Kokrajhar.

Speaking to the media, BTR Chief Pramod Boro said the party will organize similar joining ceremonies in every constituency under BTR in the near future.

He exuded confidence that UPPL will secure 70 percent of supporters in each constituency.

The bypolls to Sidli and 4 other seats–Behali, Dholai, Samaguri and Bongaigaon are expected to take place between October and November, depending on the Election Commission’s schedule.

The UPPL will contest the Sidli seat with the support of its allies, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).

Meanwhile, BJP will contest Behali, Dholai and Samaguri seats and the AGP will contest the Bongaigaon seat.

The Sidli seat fell vacant as Joyanta Basumatary of the UPPL who was representing the seat, was elected from the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat.
