A major blow has been dealt to the ULFA-Independent’s recruitment plans in eastern Assam as three of the outfit’s linkmen along with four fresh recruits were apprehended.

The arrests were made at Kakopathar in Assam’s Tinsukia district by the Army’s Dao division as part of their anti-militant operations ahead of Independence Day.

The three arrested ULFA-I linkmen have been identified as Monikanta Moran, Viman Moran and Milan Moran. Among these, Monikanta had been taking the lead to coerce young boys in the region to join the banned militant outfit.

All the arrested persons were handed over to the Kakopathar police station after initial interrogation.
