The Assam BJP has finally announced its candidate for the upcoming by-polls in Majuli. The BJP will be fielding prominent party leader Bhuban Gam from Majuli.

Worth mentioning here, the by-polls for the lone Majuli seat is scheduled for March 7th.

After being elected to the Rajya Sabha last year, former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal vacated the Majuli seat. Later, he was appointed to the Union Cabinet.

Majuli is the world’s largest river island, and when Sonowal was the Chief Minister of Assam, it was given the status of a district.
