Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brigadier BD Mishra (Retd.) was sworn-in as the Governor of Mizoram on Wednesday in addition to his normal duties as the governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
Mishra’s appointment was made by President Ram Nath Kovind as an interim arrangement during the absence of Governor Haribabu Kambhampati, who is currently on leave.
Brigadier BD Mishra was administered the oath of office by Justice Michael Zothankhuma at a swearing-in ceremony held under strict COVID-19 protocols at the Raj Bhavan in Aizawl.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Zoramthanga, Deputy chief minister Tawnluia, Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo and other Council of Ministers.
Mishra is the 23rd Governor of Mizoram since it attained statehood in 1987.
As a military officer, BD Mishra is highly respected for having not only been involved in several critical operations but also fought for the country at the forefront of the battlefields on three occasions that includes Sino-Indian War, Indo-Pakistani War 1965 and Bangladesh Liberation War.
