BD Chakma resigns as BJP District Chief of CADC

Chakma, the lone BJP legislator in the Mizoram legislative assembly, resigned taking moral responsibility for BJP’s poor show at the CADC polls

Dr. Buddha Dhan Chakma, the lone BJP legislator in the Mizoram legislative assembly, submitted his resignation from the post of the saffron party’s District President of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) on Tuesday.

In his resignation letter to the state President of the BJP Mizoram Pradesh, Chakma said he owned moral responsibility for the dismal performance of the party in the just concluded election to the 20-member CADC.

In the election to the CADC held on May 9, the BJP managed to bag 5 seats while the Mizo National Front (MNF) won 10 seats and the Congress secured 5 seats.

Three elected members of district council (MDCs) of the BJP left the saffron party and joined the MNF legislature party on the very day the results were announced and 2 Congress MDCs also joined the MNF on the next day.
