As many as 5 persons have been arrested in connection with the IED blast at poll bound Manipur’s Wangoo Tera in Kakching in which ITBP personnel were injured. Police informed
As many as 5 persons have been arrested in connection with the IED blast at poll bound Manipur’s Wangoo Tera in Kakching in which ITBP personnel were injured.
Police informed that the accused were behind as many as 3 IED explosions, the one in which ITBP personnel were injured, the IED explosion at Wangoo Lamkhai on 26 January and the IED blast at Kakching Khunao Lamkhai near Uyok Bridge.
The accused were in touch with Prepak cadres and also received training in handling firearms and explosives.
Two ITBP personnel Gaurav Rai and Girija Shankar were injured in an IED blast at the Wangoo Tera Area, on February 20th, nearly 45 km from Imphal when there out on patrol. The ITBP personnel were deployed in the area as part of the poll duties.
Manipur goes for polls in two phases – February 28 and March 5th.
