Battery Blast Leaves 2 Seriously Injured in Assam’s Cachar

Cachar SP Numal Mahatta, who visited the spot shortly after receiving the information, confirmed that the explosion was caused by a rechargeable battery.

A terrifying incident of battery explosion took place at the Kashipur market area in Assam’s Cachar district on October 18 at around 9 pm.

As per reports, two people were injured in the incident, identified as 16-year-old Vivekananda Debnath and 65-year-old Selim Barbhuiya.

Reportedly, the incident took place at the resident of Rabindra Debnath, where a rechargeable battery burst during testing.

Meanwhile, residents in the area were left in utter shock after the explosion. Despite being in a panic, a few of them came out of their residences and upon enquiring found 2 persons severely injured at the spot.

The injured people were immediately rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital by the police for medical treatment.

Addressing Media, SP Mahatta stated, Today at around 9:00 PM, we received information about an explosion at Kashipur village, in the lawn of Rabindra Debnath’s residence, the blast injured his son and a 65-year-old Salim Uddin Laskar. Police rushed to the scene, and the injured were promptly sent to SMCH for treatment.”

“Believe it or not the sound of the explosion could be heard at least 2 km away from the spot of the explosion,” a local stated.
