All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) President Badruddin Ajmal cast his vote at polling station No 21 in Hojai during the second phase of Assembly elections in Assam on Thursday.
“PM Modi and Amit Shah have said they’ll send Bangladeshi infiltrators back. I want to ask them how many Bangladeshis have been sent back till now? I challenge them to tell if even 100 Bangladeshis have been sent back in the last 5 yrs. They are the ones who get them here,” said Ajmal after casting his vote.
The main contest is seen to be between the alliances led by BJP and Congress.
The BJP-led alliance includes the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL). Congress has stitched a broad alliance that includes All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Communist Party of India, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, the Anchalik Gana Marcha (AGM) and the Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF).
Polling for the second and penultimate phase of Assam assembly polls began at 7 am on Thursday and will conclude at 6 pm. Polling for the third and last phase will be held on April 6, counting for which will take place on May 2.
