Australian High Commissioner Green in Itanagar, Discusses Skill Development and Employment for Arunachal Youths With CM Khandu

Chief Minister Pema Khandu accorded a warm welcome to Australian High Commissioner to India, Philip Green OAM who landed in Itanagar today.

In a post on X, CM Khandu wrote, “A great honour to welcome His Excellency Mr. Philip Green, the Australian High Commissioner to India, and his delegation to Arunachal Pradesh. Our discussions focused on strengthening skill development initiatives for Arunachali youth in sectors like construction, hydropower, and infrastructure with collaboration from Australian institutions. We aim to empower our youth with world-class skills, paving the way for a brighter future. I’m grateful for His Excellency’s assurance to provide high-end skills training for our youths.”

CM Khandu and the High Commisioner discussed enhancing skill development for Arunachali youths through collaboration with Australian institutions. The discussions focused on equipping young people with the skills needed for sectors such as construction, hydropower, infrastructure, and road connectivity.

Chief Minister Khandu emphasized the critical need for skilled manpower to support the state’s growing projects, particularly in hydropower. He also highlighted the importance of training local youth to compete globally and advocated for collaboration with Australian experts to create a sustainable pool of skilled trainers in the region.

Green assured that Australia would work closely with Arunachal Pradesh on this initiative, praising the state’s peaceful environment and cultural diversity. Both sides expressed optimism about the potential of this partnership to provide valuable skills and employment opportunities for Arunachali youth.

After landing in Itanagar, High Commisioner Green twitted, “Landed in Arunachal Pradesh – the 18th Indian state that I’ve visited during my assignment so far. Here to learn, and to see how we can deepen relations. Also to renew acquaintance with Chief Minister Pema Khandu.”
