A couple from Shillong staged a sit-in demonstration at Kyndai Lad or Police Bazar today in protest against the recent assault of non-tribals in Shillong.

The couple SK Choudhury and Kalpana Choudhury sought assurance from the government that the right to security of non-tribals will be protected. Scores of people from all walks of life including social activists joined in the protest.

It may be mentioned that at least 3 people were injured in an attack by unidentified miscreants at Lumdiengjri area of Shillong on January 20th.

Social activists Agnes Kharshiing and Angela Rangad who also lent support to the protest urging the government to ensure the protection of all citizens.

Few others who gathered at the site to extend support to the protest alleged that assault of non-tribals by unidentified miscreants has been taking place time and again in Shillong and it was time this was stopped.
