Assam’s Ripunjoy Gogoi representing India at Paris- Brest-Paris Cycling race covers 1220 Km in 88 hours

In a proud moment, Ripunjay Gogoi from Assam has achieved a remarkable milestone by completing 1220 km in 88 hours at the Paris-Brest-Paris cycling race today.

Gogoi is the only cyclist from Assam representing India among four others to complete the maximum number of kilometres in the cycle race.

The race started from Paris to Brest and then back to Paris.

The other participating cyclists representing India from Assam are Manish Kumar Deka (800 km), Agnishwer Mitra (353 km), Samudra Prakash Deka (353 km), and Nishu Garg (353 km).

All four couldn’t complete the race due to technical or physical issues.

Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) is a 1200 km cycling race from Paris to Brest and back to Paris. One needs to cover 1200 km, including 12000 m of elevation, within 90 hours in the entire event.

There were 290 participants from India and 8,900 cyclists participating internationally.

Ripunjay Gogoi, sharing his experience after the race, said, “In the 90-hour race, I slept for only 6 hours. It was very tiring as I cycled through the cold and warm temperatures in Paris.”

Expressing his happiness over completing the race, Gogoi shared, “I completed my race in the 88th hour.”
