Assam’s rap artist Shady Mellow advances to 2nd round of MTV Hustle

The engineering graduate from NEHU, Shillong has been performing for over 12 years across the country

Rap artist from Assam, Swagat Yein, popularly known as Shady Mellow, has made it to the second round of MTV Hustle. He got into the show after a tough selection process in which artists from all over India submitted their entries.

Swagat, who taught himself to rap, MC, and produce music, hails from Sivasagar but has been living in Guwahati for the few years. He is an engineering graduate from NEHU, Shillong, and has been performing for over 12 years across the country.

Swagat has also performed at various music festivals and events all over India, including Redbull Spotlight, Rongali Music Festival, Majuli Music Festival, and Hip Hop International (India), among others. He’s had the opportunity to open for or perform alongside well-known figures like EPR Iyer, Ritviz, Kaam Bhari, Seedhe Maut, Shah Rule, Stunnah Beatz, RCR, Ikka, J Trix, Khasi Bloodz, Delhi Sultanate, Prabh Deep, Sez, Kings United, Spitfire, Anushka Manchanda, and more.

In his music career, Shady Mellow released an Assamese album called “Boi Boi – Single” on November 1, 2020. Some of the tracks in this album include “Boiri,” “Marry Me,” “Ronohunkaar,” “Rafa Dafa,” “Rimjhim,” “Luyir,” “Marry Me” (again), “Remedy Therapy,” “Asin Medir,” “Euphoria Tripping,” and “Me Nam.”

Earlier, Firoza Khan known as Khanzaadi made a name for herself on the rap-based show, Hustle 2.0, where she competed against some of industry’s most talented rappers and singers. Khanzaadi describes herself as a free bird and is now a participant in Big Boss 17.
