Assam’s COVID-19 testing crosses 8-lakh mark

In a major achievement in the fight against COVID-19, the testing figure in Assam has crossed 8 lakh-mark on Tuesday. So far, 8,02,674 tests have been conducted in the state.

Taking to Twitter Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appreciated the health department teams for their hard work in fighting the pandemic.

“My best appreciation for the hard work by Health Dept teams who continue their mission of tracking & tracing those who may be infected by coronavirus. Today on July 28, our test figures crossed 8 lakh – 802,674 to be precise.

Well done. Request all to come forward to test,” Sarma tweeted.

The state on Monday recorded 1,348 more COVID-19 positive cases. Significantly, the positivity rate came down to 6.19 per cent. Among the fresh cases, 155 are from Guwahati.

Meanwhile, 1362 patients have been discharged from different hospitals and Covid care centres. With this, the total number of recovered patients in the state has reached 25402.

At present, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam stands at 33,576.

Earlier, Seven people had died after contracting the virus. With this, the death toll in the state has mounted to 86.
