With 2,284 fresh COVID-19 cases out of total 59,162 tests conducted in the state on Wednesday, the COVID-19 tally in Assam breached the 50,000-mark. The overall tally of coronavirus cases stands at 50,445.
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the positivity rate has come down to 3.86 per cent.
“2284 COVID cases detected out of 59162 tests in last 24 hrs. Glad that our positivity rate is just 3.86%! Kamrup (M)- 362, Dibrugarh- 177, Nagaon- 157, Kamrup (R)- 123,” Sarma tweeted.
(Total cases: 50,445, Recovered: 34,421, Active cases: 15,900, Deaths: 121)
On the other hand, 1,471 patients were discharged from different hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres across the state today. There are 14,429 active cases in Assam at present.
So far, 35,892 have recovered and three migrated out of the state.
Meanwhile, 6 more persons lost their lives due to the deadly virus. With this, the death toll has reached 121.
The state on Tuesday reported its highest single-day spike of 2,886 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 48,161.
