First Published: 2nd June, 2023 16:47 IST

The movie, which was supposed to hit the screens on Friday, has been put on hold after the Kamrup (M) District and Sessions Judge Court issued a stay order

‘Sri Raghupati’, the much-awaited Assamese movie, has run into trouble. The movie did not release today following a stay order issued by the Kamrup (M) District and Sessions Judge Court over allegations of breach of contract with former producer Suruj Sarma.

Reportedly, Dhritimaan Sarma, son of former producer Suruj Sarma, had filed a complaint in the court for breach of contract. The Metropolitan Magistrates Court, after hearing the case, ordered the postponement of the release of the film till June 15.

The movie’s producer, Sailen Kumar Sharma, has now approached the Gauhati High Court after stay order from the Sessions Court.

The movie that stars Ravi Sharma and Amrita Gogoi among others, is based on the story of Raghupati Rai Baruah, an ACS officer known for his integrity and thoroughness who embarks on a rash trip to find missing women.

The cast of the movie includes Preety Kongana, Priyam Pallavi, Siddhartha Sarma, Arun Nath, and Arun Hazarika. The film is directed by Suvrat Kakoty.
