Assam Youth Found Dead Near Kolkata Railway Station, Family Suspects Murder

An artiste by profession, Surya Saikia hailed from North Lakhimpur of Assam. It is still not clear why he was in Kolkata.

In a shocking incident, just days after the brutal murder of a young woman from Assam in Bengaluru, a young artiste from Assam died in Kolkata after he was found in a critical condition under mysterious circumstances near the Kolkata railway station.

The youth identified as Surya Saikia was found in critical condition near the railway station in Kolkata on December 1.

An artiste by profession, Surya Saikia hailed from North Lakhimpur of Assam. It is still not clear why he was in Kolkata.

While the cause of his critical state remains unclear, his family has expressed suspicions of foul play, alleging that the incident could have been premeditated and their son might have been killed.

Local authorities, however, have treated the case as an accident even as the family members are demanding a thorough investigation.

It needs to be mentioned that, Maya Gogoi a 19-year-old girl, the granddaughter of late Assam Congress leader Indra Gogoi, was stabbed to death in a service apartment in Bengaluru on November 26.

The prime suspect, 21-year-old Aarav Hanoy from Kerala, was arrested though he had fled from the scene and was trying to be on the run.
