Assam has witnessed a massive footfall of tourists with over 1 crore domestic tourists visiting the state in the year 2022-23, as per the government-released figures.
A total of 1, 00,12,195 domestic tourists from other parts of the country visited Assam between 2022-2023.
This is a big jump from 2021-22 when the state witnessed a tourist footfall of 17, 01, 701.
Taking to Twitter while announcing the feat, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that before 2014, no one could have imagined that one day Assam will emerge as India’s tourist hotspot.
CM Sarma added that the rise of tourist footfall in Assam was a striking evidence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in the last 9 years to establish peace and progress in the state.
