Assam Welcomes the New Year with Major Development Projects Inaugurated by CM Himanta Biswas Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated several developmental projects as a new year gift to the people of Assam.

On the first day of the new year, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated several developmental projects as a gift to the people of Assam. Among these was a memorial dedicated to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi and his wife, Surabala Bordoloi, located at Nabagraha, Krishna Nagar in Guwahati. While discussing new plans for the city, the Chief Minister stated, “Several projects are underway in Guwahati. Once completed, the city will take on a new look.”

Later, CM Sarma arrived at Khanapara where he inaugurated the mini Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) and flagged off 56 electric buses. The modern terminal features amenities such as food vendors, a designated area for nursing mothers, and a comfortable waiting area. It will also provide night bus services and a guest house for overnight stays, all aimed at enhancing the travel experience for passengers.

In addition, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma opened a modern 17.5-meter footbridge at GS Road, Paltan Bazar, to improve pedestrian convenience. Taking to X, he wrote, “To ease pedestrian movement in the crucial Paltan Bazar Junction in Guwahati, I dedicated a Foot Overbridge on New Year’s Day.” This footbridge, built at a cost of Rs 17 crore, connects the busy Paltan Bazar Market and the Guwahati Railway Station.
