With the prices of fuel being increased almost everyday now, a proposal has come forward to increase the fare of buses in the state. The All Assam Motor Association has proposed an increased in bus fares by about 70 percent.

The Association has already forwarded a letter to the State Transport Department putting forth their proposal. The Association has highlighted the increase in fuel prices as the main reason behind the move to increase bus fares. This may bring in more trouble for the common people as this may further bring in higher bus fares for them.

Within Guwahati, if the prices are increased as per the demands of the Association, the minimum fare to board a bus will be17 rupees. If the Association’s demands are accepted by the authorities, then bus fares between different parts of Assam will go up bringing in more trouble for the finances of the common people who have to travel almost daily for their work.
