Assam storms: 3 dead, over 42,000 affected in last 48 hours

12 districts have been hit by hailstorm and heavy rain affecting 42,495 people in 230 villages in the districts

At least three people died and 42,495 people in 230 villages of 12 districts of Assam have been affected by the severe storms and heavy rainfall that hit Assam in the last 48 hours, the Assam State Disaster Management report said today.

The 12 worst affected districts are Hailakandi, Tinsukia, Hojai, Goalpara, Dibrugarh, Dima-Hasao, Cachar, Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Nagaon, Golaghat, and Charaideo.

As per the official statement, 1,135 houses have been partially damaged. Additionally, five institutions have also been affected by the storms.

If the three casualties, two people died in Tinsukia, and one person died in Nagaon.
The authorities are working to provide relief to those affected by the storm, and efforts are underway to restore normalcy in the affected areas.

Roads were blocked due to uprooted trees and electrical poles and several areas went without power. Efforts are on to restore the services
