A woman in Assam’s Biswanath district allegedly killed her newborn girl child in a suspected case of female infanticide.
The brutal crime has been reported from Bandarjhanghol village near Itakhola area in Chatia.
As per inputs, a pregnant woman identified as Anowara Khatun went to a hospital for a health examination when she developed labor pains and rushed to a residence near the hospital where she gave birth to a girl child.
Soon after, she was seen burying her newborn child in the backyard of the house.
On recieving information about the incident, Police rushed to the spot, dug up the infant’s half buried body from the ground and took to hospital. However, doctors declared the child brought dead.
The Police has arrested the woman and registered a case against her for allegedly killing the child.
It may be mentioned here that the incident comes only a few days after a man killed his 11-day old son after failing to sell him off in Bajali district because he could not bear his expenses.
